Job Summary:
The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a skilled Probation Officer to provide domestic and delinquent intake services, and juvenile probation and parole supervision. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective interventions and services for competency development and accountability to promote juvenile behavioral change and public safety.
- Assess client needs and develop case plans to support families and communities.
- Collaborate with community resources and human service agencies to identify and provide support services.
- Conduct thorough investigations and gather information to inform decision-making.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, families, and community stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, or criminal justice.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with juveniles and their families, preferably in a probation or parole setting.
- Strong knowledge of the criminal justice system, including court proceedings and laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
