Role Summary: The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in supporting registered nurses in delivering exceptional patient care. This position encompasses a variety of essential responsibilities aimed at ensuring the well-being and comfort of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and verify identification, preparing them for assessments and procedures.
  • Collect blood samples from patients of all ages using proper techniques, ensuring accurate labeling and processing.
  • Conduct EKG tests as required, maintaining equipment functionality and cleanliness.
  • Assist in transporting patients to various departments upon request.
  • Support patients during meal times, providing assistance as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels in assigned areas and restock supplies as necessary, ensuring readiness for patient admissions.
  • Deliver direct hygiene and comfort care, including bathing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
  • Record vital signs upon patient admission, documenting findings and notifying nursing staff of any concerns.
  • Perform glucose monitoring and collect other specimens as directed.
  • Document daily patient weights and track intake and output metrics.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients by responding promptly to call lights and communicating any changes in condition to nursing staff.
  • Recognize and address the diverse needs of the patient population, tailoring care to specific requirements such as age, culture, and language.
  • Engage with patients and caregivers at an appropriate level, considering developmental and educational backgrounds.

Collaboration: Regular interaction with medical personnel, patients, and visitors is essential.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should possess certification as a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or have completed a Patient Care Technician program that includes Phlebotomy and EKG training, along with clinical experience. A minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting is highly desirable.

Certification Requirements: Current BLS/CPR certification from a recognized organization is mandatory.

Essential Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
