Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legislative support to agency leadership and department staff on media and public communications.
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage with the Oregon State Legislature, the Governor's Office, and the media.
  • Respond to requests for information, influence legislative work, and coordinate implementation of legislation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including members of the Oregon State Legislature, the Governor's Office, and the media.
  • Provide expert oral and written communication for public participation and other government processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science, or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills.
  • Two years of professional-level evaluative, analytical, and planning work experience.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships and work effectively and respectfully with politically, ideologically, culturally, and geographically diverse people and communities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social justice issues, a deep commitment to equity and social justice in strong alignment with OHCS values, and an understanding of how racism impacts housing outcomes.
  • Expert oral and written communication for public participation and other government processes.
  • Ability to disseminate complex information in plain language.
  • A successful applicant should have the ability to research policy concepts and write clearly and persuasively.
  • Experience promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and practices in the workplace.
