Position Overview:

The State of Washington is seeking a highly skilled individual for the role of Senior Tribal Grants Environmental Specialist. This position is pivotal in overseeing the execution of Tribal grants funded through the Climate Commitment Act (CCA).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the deployment of grants aimed at assisting Tribes in various climate-related initiatives, such as clean energy program development and carbon offset project exploration.
  • Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Tribal governments, to facilitate discussions on funding and legislative matters that impact Tribal interests.
  • Utilize expertise in environmental policy to assess and recommend grant allocations effectively.
  • Monitor the utilization and success of Tribal grant programs, addressing challenges and ensuring alignment with legislative objectives.
  • Promote environmental justice by ensuring equitable distribution of state grant funds.
  • Draft comprehensive funding opportunity descriptions and eligibility criteria for grant applications.
  • Enhance awareness of the Tribal grant program through collaboration with communication teams.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in environmental analysis, grant management, and Tribal relations. A minimum of nine years of relevant experience or education is required, with a focus on environmental sciences or planning.
