Position Overview

The Richland County Public Library is on the lookout for a dedicated Library Services Team Leader to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in enhancing our patrons' experience and promoting our extensive collection.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Curate Library Displays: Design and maintain engaging displays that showcase the library's diverse collection.
  • Enhance Literary Knowledge: Engage in a structured reading initiative to expand your expertise in both fiction and nonfiction genres.
  • Content Creation: Develop and publish readers' advisory materials for the library's digital platforms.
  • Customer Interaction: Assist patrons in navigating our print and digital resources, ensuring they find the information they need.
  • Staff Development: Collaborate with management to train and oversee staff and volunteers, ensuring effective communication of daily tasks and responsibilities.
  • Circulation Services: Manage customer transactions including checkouts, renewals, and holds, while providing assistance with inquiries both in-person and over the phone.
  • Technical Support: Guide patrons in utilizing library equipment such as PAC terminals and copiers.
  • Reference Assistance: Address reference inquiries and technology-related questions, ensuring accurate information is provided.
  • Technology Utilization: Employ various technologies for communication, scheduling, and data tracking, while staying updated on library tech advancements.
  • Program Facilitation: Assist in planning and executing programs and training sessions for various audiences, including story times and tech workshops.
  • Operational Support: Contribute to the daily operations of the library, including inventory management and facility upkeep.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve customer issues, upholding library policies and ensuring a positive environment.
  • Compliance Assurance: Implement best practices and ensure adherence to all relevant guidelines and procedures.
  • Data Management: Collect and analyze data for reporting and trend analysis.
  • Safety Protocols: Follow health and safety guidelines while performing job duties and report any hazards.
  • Professional Development: Participate in meetings and training to stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Deliver exceptional service, ensuring that each patron's needs are met with care and attention.
Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or GED, complemented by four years of relevant experience, including leadership roles or a demonstrated capacity to guide others.

Work Environment:

This position is based at the Richland County Public Library and requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends.
