JOB SUMMARY: The

Research Associate:

DARE-KY will engage in investigative work related to soilless agricultural practices, with a specific emphasis on nutrient management, microbial interactions, and the community structure and metagenomics of native microorganisms.

This position is funded through grants.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Execute research experiments focusing on nutrient utilization in soilless farming
  • Oversee the maintenance of aquaponics and hydroponics systems
  • Gather and preserve research samples
  • Conduct water quality assessments
  • Support students in laboratory methodologies
  • Manage laboratory equipment and inventory
  • Collaborate on research methodologies
  • Assist in data analysis and preparation of presentations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • M.S. in a relevant discipline
  • Background in aquaponics or horticulture
  • Familiarity with laboratory instruments
  • Valid driver's license

WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties will be performed in both laboratory and agricultural settings, necessitating the ability to lift over 50 pounds.
