Job Summary

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is seeking a highly skilled Safety Officer to join our team. As a key member of our System Safety department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our passengers, employees, and the general public.

**Key Responsibilities**

Coordinate and cooperate with all levels of Authority management and collective bargaining unit employees to provide expert assistance toward identifying, assessing, and prioritizing line management's prevention of safety, health, and environmental hazards.
Investigate significant accidents and injuries with the cooperation of labor and management, using specialized equipment and knowledge to reconstruct and analyze accidents and other occurrences.
Analyze equipment conditions and vehicle response, evaluate human factors and fatigue-related issues, and make recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Develop, update, and assess SEPTA's Accident/Incident Investigation Program, providing training to managers and conducting periodic audits to ensure compliance.

**Requirements**

B.S. Degree plus five to seven years' experience in safety or safety engineering field required.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, FRA, FTA, NFPA, and PennDOT regulations, as well as applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Ability to pursue/perform multiple tasks simultaneously, with excellent verbal and technical writing skills and experience writing quality technical reports and Standard Operating Procedures.
Valid driver's license and ability to satisfy rigorous and demanding work schedules, including non-traditional working hours and short-term deadlines.
