Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to join our team. As a Medical Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of medical coding and classification in various departments and clinics within military treatment facilities.
Job Duties:- Review and assign appropriate medical codes, modifiers, and quantities as documented by physicians in patient health records.
- Ensure compliance with federal coding regulations and DoD guidelines.
- Obtain clarification from healthcare providers for ambiguous, conflicting, or non-specific documentation.
- Complete 80% or more of assigned workload within the performance period.
- Maintain accuracy standards of 97% overall accuracy for diagnosis, E&M, and procedure codes.
- Review and code a wide variety of medical encounters, including inpatient services, day surgery, emergency department visits, observation services, and clinic and outpatient visits.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One year related experience.
- Successful completion of a Medical Coding Course (CIC, CPC, CCS, COC, CEDC).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Mail.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
- Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.
- Familiarity with MHS GENESIS, 3M Encompass preferred.
