Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and laying out sprinkler systems that meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and apply NFPA standards to design and layout sprinkler systems based on building type, construction type, hazard classification, and architectural features.
  • Design and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software packages, coordinating sprinkler system piping with other building components and performing hydraulic calculations.
  • Perform field checks of completed designs to verify accuracy.
  • Work closely with district contracting teams to understand contracts, scheduling, and delivery needs.
  • Mentor others in accurate execution of sprinkler design using acquired experience, proficiency, and knowledge.
  • Assist sales in design estimates.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1-5 years of fire sprinkler design experience.
  • Working experience of AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Sprinkler Design Software, or equivalent sprinkler design software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to solve basic math problems, including geometry and algebra.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MSOffice, Sprinkler Design Software, and a hydraulic calculation program.
  • Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards for Automatic Sprinkler System Layout.
  • NICET II certification.
