About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of software development processes for various spaceflight systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Software Supplier Management: Oversee the selection, assessment, and management of software suppliers to ensure they meet quality and compliance standards, such as AS9115 and DO-178C.
  • AS9115 Auditing: Conduct assessments and audits of software suppliers to verify compliance with AS9115 requirements and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversight and Compliance: Provide oversight, support, and guidance to software suppliers to ensure adherence to industry-specific and NASA requirements, as well as contract specifications related to software development and delivery.
  • Supplier Onboarding: Collaborate with procurement and software suppliers during the onboarding process to ensure suppliers are aware of and prepared for requirements applicable to the software they will be developing and supplying.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to supplier evaluations, audits, compliance, and performance.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with software supplier quality and compliance, and implement measures to address any identified non-conformities or deviations from required standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal teams, procurement staff, and software suppliers to ensure effective communication, alignment of expectations, and successful outcomes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of industry experience in software engineering with at least 2 years in a software quality engineer role.
  • Familiarity with software quality assurance standards (RTCA/DO-178C, RTCA/DO-254, AS9115, CMMI).
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in auditing and assuring software development assurance process compliance.
  • 2+ years of experience identifying software process-related problems, performing root cause analysis, and managing corrective actions.
  • Relevant experience transitioning a product from development, through production to operations.
  • Experience providing process assurance under DO-254.
  • Familiarity with Software Lifecycle Management.
  • Experience with Aerospace, space launch, or military or commercial aviation.
  • American Society of Software Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification.
  • Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification.
