Job OverviewPosition Summary:

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse provides comprehensive care to patients utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in alignment with established protocols and directives from the attending physician.

The nurse collaborates effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and the achievement of desired health outcomes.

This role requires effective interaction with patients and their families while upholding the standards of professional nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver direct and personalized nursing care to patients, applying scientific nursing principles.
  2. Gather information regarding patients' primary complaints and current symptoms, along with a thorough medical history, documenting findings accurately.
  3. Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care strategies.
  4. Conduct triage and assessments, considering both physical and psychosocial factors.
  5. Manage basic life support needs and stabilize patients until the attending physician is available, adhering to nursing standards and protocols.
  6. Initiate corrective actions based on monitoring equipment that indicates adverse symptoms.
  7. Document nursing care accurately in the patient medical record.
  8. Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, diagnostic tests, and treatments.
  9. Prepare and administer medications as prescribed, documenting administration and any relevant data in the medical record.
  10. Provide IV therapy in accordance with physician orders, perform EKGs, venipuncture, blood draws, and monitor vital signs.
  11. Support physicians in managing critically ill patients and assist with various medical procedures.
  12. Maintain accurate records of procedures and ensure compliance with facility policies regarding documentation.
  13. Review discharge instructions with patients and provide necessary education regarding home care, medication management, and rehabilitation.
  14. Ensure the emergency room is well-stocked and that medical equipment is properly maintained.
  15. Report any suspected abuse or safety violations to the appropriate authorities.
  16. Participate in quality assurance reviews and maintain all required certifications and licenses.
