Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team on the 4th floor of our Medical/Surgical department. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Observe and report patient concerns and changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge, and general patient care duties.
  • Record vital signs, assist with personal hygiene, and provide other patient comfort measures.
  • Assist with specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment to prevent and control infections and ensure patient safety.
  • Report necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.
  • Communicate with RN regarding nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or lack of understanding of diet changes.
  • Assist with administrative tasks to support department operations.
  • Respond to patient call bells and relay messages to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior patient care experience.
Work Environment

The work environment for this position requires the ability to work closely with others, work protracted or irregular hours, and work around biohazards and infectious diseases.

  • Effective communication with staff and patients.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments.
