About the Role

Fathom, a leading digital manufacturing platform, is seeking an experienced Mold Maker to join our team. As a Mold Maker, you will play a critical role in constructing, repairing, and maintaining plastic injection molds, ensuring the highest quality products for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct, repair, and maintain plastic injection molds to meet the highest quality standards.
  • Attend design review meetings to ensure new tools meet production requirements.
  • Work closely with the Shop Foreman and colleagues to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Troubleshoot injection molds for repair work, including broken components, part flash, sticking parts, and other malfunctions.
  • Repair or replace damaged components, such as ejector pins, core pins, cam pins, and bolt threads.
  • Dismantle or partially dismantle molds to locate the cause of malfunction or part defect.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and recommend design changes to new and existing tools.
  • Work with all employees to continuously improve quality and production.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or certificate in tool & die (preferred).
  • 5 years of mold making experience.
  • Specific vision abilities, including depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, communicate effectively, and define problems.
  • AutoCAD experience and/or SolidWorks experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, predictive maintenance, 5S, and related manufacturing best practices (preferred).
