Mold Maker Job Description

Fathom, a leading digital manufacturing platform, is seeking a skilled Mold Maker to join our team. As a Mold Maker, you will play a critical role in constructing, repairing, and maintaining plastic injection molds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Fabrication: Interpret prints for tooling modifications, accuracy, and improvements.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Assign work to employees, hold them accountable for following processes, and work collaboratively with colleagues to improve quality and production.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot tooling problems at the presses, and verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain tooling inventory by notifying supervisors of parts needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase shop efficiencies.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Assist other tool makers with troubleshooting and work to resolve issues in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree (A.A.) or certificate in tool & die preferred.
  • Experience: 5 years of mold making experience.
  • Skills: AutoCAD experience and/or SolidWorks experience; strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, predictive maintenance, 5S, and related manufacturing best practices.
  • Physical Demands: Frequently required standing; must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
