The Culinary Supervisor will lead the kitchen team to ensure a clean and sanitized dining environment and compliance with organizational policies.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proven experience in large-scale food preparation.
- Preferred certification in culinary arts or food service management.
- Genuine interest in working with the elderly population.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Friendly and caring demeanor.
- Minimum age of 18 years. Must pass a background check.
- Must complete a physical examination by a licensed healthcare provider and pass a drug screening.
- Able to respond effectively in emergency situations.
Food Management and Inventory
- Identify and communicate food and supply needs for upcoming menus.
- Assist with the receiving, rotation, and proper storage of food items.
- Adhere to financial guidelines and budgetary requirements.
- Prepare meals in accordance with nutritional guidelines and individual dietary needs.
- Deliver high-quality meals and snacks, accommodating special dietary requests.
- Present food in an appealing and appetizing manner.
- Support residents' independence during meals by providing necessary adaptive tools.
- Ensure timely and courteous food delivery.
- Organize food service for special events as needed.
- Encourage resident participation in the Food Service Committee meetings.
- Report any kitchen equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor.
- Ensure adherence to local health regulations and Oaks Senior Living policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen workspace.
- Follow proper food storage and handling protocols to meet infection control standards.
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Understanding of state food handling and kitchen regulations.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards.
- Knowledge of fire safety procedures.
- Proficient in operating kitchen appliances.
Physical Job Requirements:
To successfully fulfill the responsibilities of this role, the employee must be capable of performing essential physical tasks for extended periods. Proper body mechanics and safety protocols must be observed. In a typical workday, the employee will:
- Stand or walk for up to eight hours.
- Sit for up to two hours.
- Occasionally lift and support up to 30 pounds.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly kneel, bend, and reach as needed.
