Job Title: Assistant Professor of Climate Economics

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Assistant Professor of Climate Economics to join our team at Duke University. The successful candidate will have a strong background in applied economics, with a focus on climate change research and policy.

Job Summary:

The Division of Environmental Social Systems (ESS) at Duke University invites applications for a tenure-track position in climate economics at the assistant professor level. The successful applicant will join a vibrant community of scholars who are committed to advancing knowledge on climate change and its impacts.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct innovative and impactful research on climate economics, with a focus on applied policy analysis and solutions-oriented research.
  • Teach and mentor students in the Nicholas School's professional Master of Environmental Management (MEM) and Master of Forestry (MF) degree programs, as well as Duke University's PhD Program in Environmental Policy (UPEP).
  • Develop and maintain a distinctive, innovative research program that is widely recognized by scholars in the field and is supported by external funding.
  • Collaborate with faculty and researchers across Duke University and beyond to advance knowledge on climate change and its impacts.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in economics, a field within economics, or a related field such as public policy.
  • Strong research ability and plans to develop an innovative, distinctive research program that will advance knowledge on climate economics and support the development of solutions to climate challenges.
  • Potential to become an outstanding teacher and advisor who can effectively teach and mentor students from diverse educational and socioeconomic backgrounds.
