Position Overview:

The role involves providing comprehensive medical oversight for employees injured in the workplace, engaging in case management through both telephonic and face-to-face interactions with affected individuals and healthcare providers. This position is responsible for liaising with employers and claims specialists to facilitate medical care aimed at ensuring a smooth transition back to work for the injured employee.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing medical assessments and treatment plans
  • Collaborating with physicians and injured employees to establish treatment objectives and discuss return-to-work strategies
  • Keeping employers and referral sources informed about the progress of medical treatment and work capabilities
  • Coordinating additional services such as home health care, durable medical equipment, and rehabilitation therapies. Engaging with employers to clarify job requirements and consider modified or alternative employment options.
  • Reviewing and assessing treatment outcomes with physicians and injured employees, utilizing Evidence-Based Guidelines to ensure optimal results.
  • Documenting observations, assessments, and plans related to case management.
  • Creating reports for referral sources to communicate the status of cases and recommendations.
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with referral sources, employers, medical providers, injured employees, and other stakeholders involved in the treatment process.
  • Participating in telephonic case discussions as needed.
  • Managing a caseload of at least 35 files and achieving a minimum of 145 billable hours monthly, with a quality compliance rate of at least 95%.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a nursing or medical degree from an accredited institution, along with an active Registered Nursing license or medical license in the relevant state.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Commitment to completing necessary training to maintain proficiency and meet licensing requirements.
  • Willingness to travel for appointments within a radius of approximately 2 hours.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in Workers' Compensation is advantageous.
  • Certification in a related field is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of clinical experience is preferred.
