Position Summary
U.S.VETS, the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to serving veterans, is in search of a Budget Analyst.

Our mission is to eradicate veteran homelessness through the development of housing and the expansion of crucial support programs aimed at assisting post-9/11 veterans and their families in their transition to civilian life. This role reports directly to the VP of Fiscal Evaluation and Compliance and has a dotted line to the Executive Director. The primary duties include generating billing for grants and contracts, preparing annual budgets, and monitoring the financial performance of programs to ensure fiscal health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and submit funding requests for grants and contracts.
- Ensure timely collection of all receivables related to the site.
- Verify compliance of all financial activities with internal policies and all applicable regulations.
- Align all financial activities with grant applications and awards.
- Prepare the annual operating budget and grant budgets in collaboration with the Site Operations Manager and Executive Director.
- Make necessary modifications to grant budgets.
- Monitor financial performance of the site, programs, and grants, coordinating with the National Office on required actions.
- Assist the Site Operations Manager in preparing and submitting financial reports required by funders.
- Prepare internal financial reports and analyses as needed.
- Perform other accounting functions related to the site.
- Participate in staff meetings and report on the financial status of the site.
- Engage in site activities and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- Preferred experience in the nonprofit sector.
- Familiarity with OMB Circulars.
- Experience with Non-Profit Fund Accounting Software (MIP preferred).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer proficiency.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Capacity to follow directions effectively.
