Communications Specialist

In Nottoway County Public Schools, we value collaboration and teamwork. As a Communications Specialist, you will work closely with educators, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement effective communication strategies for students with communication disorders.
This role requires a deep understanding of communication disorders, assessment techniques, and therapeutic interventions. You will assess students' communication abilities, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide guidance to educators on how to support students' communication needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing students' communication abilities through standardized tests and observations
- Developing and implementing treatment plans tailored to each student's needs
- Collaborating with educators to integrate communication strategies into lesson plans
- Providing ongoing support and guidance to educators on communication disorder topics
- Participating in IEP meetings and contributing to decision-making processes
Requirements:
- Valid license as a speech-language pathologist issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP)
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Transcripts and references required
- Successful outcomes of background investigations/tests including tuberculosis screening, FBI Criminal History Investigation, State Police Criminal History Investigation, and Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigation
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
