Purpose and Scope:

The Clinical Technician II plays a vital role in the healthcare team, working under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. This position requires empathy, excellent communication and nursing skills to provide high-quality patient care.

The Clinical Technician performs a variety of routine duties, including direct patient care, observing patient status, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and transporting patients. They must be able to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and stand for long periods of time.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Equivalent experience is also required.
  • Six months of experience as a Clinical Technician I or equivalent clinical experience is necessary.
Certification and Licensure:

BLS certification is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

The Clinical Technician must be able to perform the following physical demands:

  • Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Coping with mental and emotional stress associated with this position.
  • Operating office machines safely and in accordance with hospital safety standards.
Working Conditions:

The Clinical Technician works in a well-lighted and ventilated office/clinical setting, subject to frequent interruptions. They may be required to work beyond normal working hours, including overtime and on-call shifts. Routine occupational exposure to infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, bodily fluids, hazardous chemicals, noxious odors, latex, and musculoskeletal injuries is possible.
