Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Step Down

At Boston Medical Center, we are committed to delivering exceptional care to our patients, families, and community. As a Registered Nurse in our Medical Step Down unit, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to complex medical patients.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the Medical Step Down unit. As an RN in this unit, you will be responsible for delivering nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions, including cardiology patients, pericardial drains patients, TAVR patients, ventilated patients, and patients transferred from the MICU with complex medical issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nursing care in the Medical Step Down unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate effectively with various healthcare team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC's nursing organization
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Requirements:

  • Active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license or the ability to obtain one
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fluency in another language a plus
