About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team in the Surgical Step Down unit at Boston Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct clinical and support services to our patients and their families.

Job Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN), you will perform a variety of delegated patient care interventions, including obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, and providing emotional support. You will also contribute to the efficient operation of the Critical Care department, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical and support services to patients and their families
  • Perform delegated patient care interventions, including vital signs, bathing, feeding, and wound care
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the Critical Care department
  • Work cooperatively with healthcare team members to provide a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and staff
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification
  • Ability to pass clinical competency testing
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic math and computer proficiency
  • One of the following: previous experience as a Patient Care Technician, completion of a Patient Care Technician training program, or completion of a certified medical assistant training program
