We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the IMCU Surgical Step Down unit at Boston Medical Center. As a key member of our critical care team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to our mission of providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to intermediate level surgical patients, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
  • Communicate effectively with various healthcare team members, patients, and their families to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Coordinate and delegate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues, promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Update and manage patient records, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information, utilizing our electronic health record system to inform care decisions.
  • Follow established guidelines and policies, adhering to our nursing organization's standards of practice.
  • Assist the leadership team in quality improvement projects, contributing to our ongoing efforts to enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred, with a strong background in critical care or surgical nursing.
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) required.
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred), with the ability to obtain BSN within 4 years.
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification required for certain practice areas.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities, with a focus on patient safety and mobility.
  • Basic computer proficiency, with experience in electronic health record systems.
  • Fluency in another language a plus, but not required.
