Job Summary

As a Financial Research Manager at Corewell Health, you will play a critical role in managing internal and external financial reporting, accounting, and audit activities for our organization and subsidiaries. You will be responsible for preparing monthly board and management reports to ensure relevant, reliable, and timely information is clearly communicated to key decision makers and constituents. You will lead a highly engaged team of financial analysts and accountants to work directly with business owners to understand the financial implications of business decisions and transactions, proposed and historic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the financial statement production and general ledger maintenance processes, ensuring an efficient and accurate generation of monthly financial results.
  • Coordinate activities of the entire organization to ensure effective internal controls over the finance close process.
  • Prepare all financial statements and reports for distribution, including Board financial packages and management reporting.
  • Provide analyst support for key functions within Corewell Health, preparing monthly analysis of financial statements and making recommendations to leadership based on findings.
  • Assist with activities of independent auditors and ensure that all information requests are prepared timely and accurately.
  • Work directly with finance leadership in achieving department goals and completing corporate projects, staying informed of changes to GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles, and State of Michigan accounting policies and communicating the effect of those changes to senior management.
  • Consult with operations management on accounting and finance-related matters.
  • Collaborate with other Corewell Health departments to provide information for the preparation of tax, surveys, and other regulatory filings for Corewell Health.
  • Work collaboratively with the Core Finance Systems team to ensure that financial systems and upgrades are properly supported.
  • Manage the activities of professional and support employees engaged in financial reporting, facilitating the training and continuing education of employees and providing direction and support to subordinate employees to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, business, healthcare administration, or related field.
  • 5 years of relevant progressively responsible experience in a finance or accounting role with a focus on financial reporting, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Able to work on site up to 3 days per week.
