Role of Adjunct Faculty

As an adjunct faculty member at Central Carolina Community College, you will facilitate meaningful learning experiences by integrating discipline-specific outcomes through engaging activities, lectures, practical skill development, assignments, and effective classroom management. Faculty members are responsible for authentic assessments that enable students to enhance their knowledge and skills progressively. Building strong connections with students early in the term is crucial to addressing their diverse needs throughout the course.

Documentation Requirements:
Please include unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Official transcripts will be required prior to the start date.

Travel and Schedule:
This position may involve occasional travel between campuses and for training purposes. After-hours work may also be necessary.

Teaching Responsibilities:
  • Engage students as active participants in the learning journey, facilitating their progression and supporting their educational and career aspirations.
  • Utilize student learning outcomes to design diverse activities, assignments, and assessments that align with curriculum objectives.
  • Create an engaging instructional atmosphere that fosters a positive, interactive, and inclusive learning experience for all students.
  • Maintain a Blackboard course with a syllabus and gradebook for each class.
  • Timely grading of assignments, ensuring compliance with the college's grading policy.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student submissions, highlighting strengths and suggesting attainable improvements.
  • Respond to student inquiries within two business days.
  • Report attendance on a weekly basis.
  • Support the college's vision of exceptional learning for all.

Institutional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in activities to uphold program and college accreditation standards as needed.
  • Engage in professional development to remain current in your field.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in your discipline and renew industry credentials as required.
  • Attend departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings as requested.
  • Foster a culture of care and advocacy through compassion, inclusion, opportunity, integrity, courage, and respect for individuals.
  • Encourage a learning environment that values diverse perspectives and experiences, promoting participation from all members of our varied communities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Possession of an Associate Degree (AAS in PTA).
  • A minimum of three years of full-time experience as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant in a clinical environment.
Required Industry Credentials:
  • Current North Carolina PT or PTA License.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching at the post-secondary level.
