In this role, you will be tasked with essential responsibilities related to assessing and determining eligibility for various Economic Services programs, including Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, Work First Family Assistance, Crisis Intervention, Low Income Energy Assistance, and Childcare Subsidy.
Your duties will encompass:
- Conducting client interviews to gather necessary information.
- Completing initial applications and verifying submitted data.
- Determining eligibility and conducting scheduled program reviews.
- Explaining program requirements and advising clients on available services.
- Maintaining direct contact with clients and their representatives to collect and confirm eligibility information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform intake and processing of applications, ensuring all relevant data is collected and entered into the appropriate systems.
- Utilize technology to verify information and manage case reviews.
- React to changes in client circumstances that may impact eligibility.
- Manage a caseload effectively, ensuring timely follow-ups and reports.
- Participate in emergency response efforts as needed.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:
- One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker, or
- A degree from an accredited institution, or
- An Associate's degree in a relevant field combined with two years of related experience, or
- A high school diploma with five years of relevant experience.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of assigned economic programs.
- Understanding of community resources that may assist clients.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Effective communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Capability to work with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in various technology systems and standard office equipment.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to exert light to moderate physical effort, including sitting, walking, and occasional lifting. Standard vision and hearing capabilities are necessary for effective communication and data analysis.
Special Requirements:
A valid driver's license is required. Completion of mandatory training programs is essential for this role. Regular attendance and punctuality are crucial to ensure clients receive the necessary services.
