The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is in search of a skilled Multidisciplinary Systems Engineer to contribute to the mission of the Space Warfighting Analysis Center/Spectrum Warfare Program (SWAC/SWP). This role is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and requires a robust analytical and technical foundation in satellite Ground Entry Points (GEPS), terrestrial data transport/fiber architecture, as well as cloud computing and storage solutions.

The selected candidate will engage in both participation and leadership of daily force design analysis related to GEPS, fiber transport, and cloud computing/storage. Collaboration is key, as the engineer will work alongside a diverse team comprising customers, external partners, scientists, developers, engineers, managers, technicians, and support staff. The ideal candidate should be adept at presenting complex information to a varied audience, including peers, commercial partners, and senior government officials. Engaging in dynamic technical discussions will be a daily aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and address customer analytical requirements through direct engagement.
  • Foster strong relationships with SDL Program Managers and customer engineering leadership.
  • Lead intricate system analytics by coordinating the efforts of multiple engineers with diverse expertise towards a unified technical solution.
  • Deliver briefings to industry partners and senior officials on short notice throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with SDL Program Managers to establish clear deliverables and deadlines for the technical team.
  • Maintain team focus on delivering exceptional analytics.
  • Assist in identifying, tracking, and mitigating potential risks in project execution.
  • Support SDL Program Managers in managing scope, approach, cost, and scheduling issues.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality analytics within budget constraints.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering field, or a Bachelor's degree with extensive experience in GEPS, terrestrial data transport, and cloud computing/storage.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in technical analytics.
  • Ability to comprehend complex technical challenges and translate them into actionable tasks.
  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure.
  • Proven track record in managing complex analytics projects with ambiguous requirements.
  • Strong relationship-building skills in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in task management and organization.
  • Capability to lead a geographically dispersed team, including SDL and subcontractor members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Top Secret Clearance.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical degree in engineering or science.
  • Over ten years of analytical experience with GEPS, terrestrial data transport, and cloud computing/storage.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies such as VPC, EC2, S3, EBS, EKS, Lambda, and RDS.
  • AWS Solutions Architect professional certification preferred (equivalent Azure certifications accepted).
  • Strong understanding of networking and internet protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, VPN infrastructure, and load balancing.
  • Experience with Department of Defense technical programs.
  • Demonstrated success in managing high-tempo projects.
