Early Intervention Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Intervention Specialist to join our team at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. As a key member of our Preschool Early Intervention program, you will play a vital role in evaluating and delivering special education services to young children.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluation and Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of preschool-age children to identify their needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
- IEP Development and Implementation: Create and implement IEPs that align with the needs of each child, ensuring they receive the necessary support to reach their full potential.
- Instruction and Support: Provide instruction and support to individuals, small groups, and large groups, including typically developing peers, to promote learning and development.
- Progress Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor and evaluate the progress of all students, making adjustments to instruction and support as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with parents, guardians, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting children's needs.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in early childhood education and special education, applying this knowledge to improve instruction and support.
- Education and Certification: Hold a valid Pennsylvania certification in Special Education PK-8/PK-12, with a preference for certification in Early Childhood PK-4.
- Experience: Possess experience working with preschool populations in early childhood environments, with a strong understanding of early childhood curriculum and the ability to adapt instruction to meet individual needs.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust and positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Possess the ability to analyze complex issues, think critically, and develop effective solutions.
- Leadership and Collaboration Skills: Demonstrate strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment.
The physical demands of this role include sitting for extended periods, lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds, and performing repetitive movements. The ability to speak clearly and distinctly, hear clearly, and have adequate vision to perform duties is also required.
