Job Summary:

The Mayor's Office of Community Mental Health seeks a Chief of Staff to oversee the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Office. This role will report to the Executive Director and have three direct reports, serving as a member of the Office's executive leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop systems to promote efficiency, equity, and effectiveness in the Office's work, overseeing and managing special projects to ensure appropriate goals and timelines are met. Ensure intra-office coordination, promoting positive and efficient relationships, and communication between all teams. Act as an advisor to the Executive Director and executive leadership team, representing the Executive Director in internal and external meetings. Coordinate and finalize briefings for the Executive Director and other key stakeholders, supporting internal/external stakeholder communications by acting as a liaison with City Hall, City agencies, community advocates, elected officials, and civic organizations. Oversee events led by the office, providing direction on strategies and attendees, and support hiring and personnel matters for the Office.

Requirements:

A Master's degree in public administration or related field with specialty in health or social services planning, or related field and five (5) years of relevant systems planning experience in government or health care industry at least one (1) year of which is at the senior supervisory level. A Baccalaureate Degree and eight (8) years of relevant experience at least one (1) year of which is at the senior supervisory level. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above requirements. Relevant advanced degree, 5+ years of experience in an area related to the effective delivery of services, and management experience required. Experience working in government preferred, prior experience with administrative and procurement processes preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and program management software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear and compelling presentations for an array of audiences.

Residency Requirement:
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
