Position: Senior Civil Engineer - Transportation

Position Summary: As a Senior Civil Engineer specializing in Transportation, you will take the lead on significant transportation engineering initiatives, applying your extensive knowledge to the planning and design phases. Your responsibilities will include team management, close collaboration with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. In addition to your technical expertise, you will be instrumental in budgeting, quality assurance, and the introduction of innovative strategies to enhance transportation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and scheduling of engineering activities across various disciplines.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with engineers and key officials from external organizations, serving as the technical liaison for project managers.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of material costs, cost analysis, and estimating within the discipline.
  • Provide technical leadership, making informed decisions and recommendations while guiding engineering staff and supporting diverse engineering teams.
  • Contribute to proposal development, including scope definition, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Serve as the lead engineer responsible for the approval and maintenance of engineering deliverables.
  • Utilize advanced engineering principles and practices in your work.
  • Prepare designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, reports, plans, specifications, and estimates for relevant projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with project teams, including sub-consultants and clients.
  • Exercise independent judgment on technical matters with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of design calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and other technical documents.
  • Employ software tools to design engineering projects, resolve technical challenges, organize data, and produce technical documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in Civil Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present to clients and the public.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Expertise in MicroStation (InRoads/OpenRoads) and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Edge, Project).
