Position Overview

Opportunity

WSP is embarking on a search for a Lead Civil Engineering Consultant. Join our Earth & Environment Team and contribute to impactful projects while being part of a dynamic organization dedicated to fulfilling client needs and addressing their challenges.

In this position, your focus will be on civil, water, and environmental projects associated with landfills, aggregate quarries, and major utility providers. The ideal candidate will support a wide array of disciplines, including civil design, earthworks construction, piping systems, hydrology, hydraulics, surface water management, erosion control, slope stability, and landfill design and permitting. A commitment to high-quality work, effective communication, and client-centered deliverables is essential. Some travel may be necessary.

Your Contributions
  • Leading and overseeing small project design teams
  • Defining and scoping small to medium-sized projects
  • Managing project timelines and deliverables
  • Civil layout, grading, and drainage design
  • Drafting engineering design reports, drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates
  • Overseeing construction quality assurance initiatives
  • Engaging with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Preparing project proposals
  • Mentoring junior staff members
  • Interpreting and summarizing technical data and reports for sound engineering conclusions
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive solutions for clients
  • Upholding ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct
  • Taking on additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 5-7 years of civil engineering design experience
  • Expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, earthworks construction, and permitting documentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a positive attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and team members
  • Capability to perform technical calculations and understand engineering principles
  • Commitment to quality assurance and quality control practices
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and schedules
  • Willingness to travel as needed for project demands
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • California PE registration or eligibility to obtain within one year
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized projects
  • Completion of OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification desired

Compensation
Expected Salary Range: $91,800 - $133,870

WSP USA provides this compensation range based on the applicant's qualifications and experience, along with internal equity considerations. The final salary may vary based on individual circumstances.
