WSP is actively seeking a Lead Civil Engineering Consultant to join our team. This role will engage you in significant projects with our Earth & Environment division, contributing to a dynamic organization dedicated to fulfilling client needs and addressing complex challenges.

As a key player in this position, you will concentrate on civil, water, and environmental initiatives related to landfills, aggregate quarries, and major utility sectors. The ideal candidate will possess the capability to support a wide array of disciplines, including but not limited to civil design, earthworks construction, piping systems, hydrology, hydraulics, surface water management, erosion control, slope stability, and landfill design and permitting. A commitment to high-quality deliverables, effective communication, and client-centered solutions is essential. Some travel may be necessary.

Your Contributions
  • Overseeing and guiding small project design teams
  • Defining and scoping small to medium-scale projects
  • Managing projects of small to medium size
  • Civil layout, grading, and drainage design
  • Creating engineering design reports, drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates
  • Supervising construction quality assurance projects
  • Engaging with clients
  • Interacting with regulatory agencies
  • Drafting proposals
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Expertise in preparing and interpreting grading plans and earthworks construction documents
  • Assisting in the formulation and execution of site Health and Safety Plans
  • Ensuring the continuous enhancement of engineering discipline certifications and value propositions
  • Analyzing and summarizing data, including reports and documents to draw sound engineering and regulatory conclusions
  • Collaborating with professionals across various disciplines to deliver trusted advisory services and innovative solutions for clients
  • Exercising responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct
  • Performing additional duties as required by business needs
Qualifications

Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 5-7 years of experience in civil engineering design
  • Experience in areas such as hydrology and hydraulics, earthworks construction, soils testing, and preparation of permitting documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a positive attitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and team members
  • Competence in technical computations and engineering principles
  • Experience in guiding junior team members while adhering to quality assurance protocols
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to foster cooperation among diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety policies
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements
  • Willingness to travel as needed based on project demands
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Valid California PE registration or eligibility to obtain within one year
  • Experience in managing small to mid-sized projects
  • Completion of 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is a plus

Compensation
Expected Salary Range: $91,800 - $133,870

WSP USA provides this compensation range based on the successful applicant's qualifications and internal equity considerations. WSP reserves the right to adjust compensation based on various factors.
