Job Overview

Opportunity Summary

WSP is embarking on a search for a Senior Consultant Civil Engineer for our expanding team. Join our Earth & Environment division and contribute to projects that align with our clients' goals while addressing their challenges.

In this position, you will engage in civil, water, and environmental projects related to landfills, aggregate quarries, and significant utility providers. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to support various aspects, including but not limited to civil design, earthworks construction, piping systems, hydrology, hydraulics, surface water management, erosion control, slope stability, and landfill design and permitting. A commitment to high-quality deliverables and effective communication is essential. Some travel may be necessary.

Your Contributions
  • Overseeing and guiding medium to large project design teams
  • Defining project scopes and developing plans for medium to large-scale initiatives
  • Managing project execution and delivery
  • Civil layout, grading, and drainage design
  • Creating engineering design reports, drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates
  • Directing construction quality assurance efforts
  • Engaging with clients
  • Identifying and pursuing new project opportunities
  • Interacting with regulatory agencies
  • Drafting proposals
  • Mentoring and training junior staff
  • Preparing and interpreting grading plans and construction documents
  • Leading the development and execution of site Health and Safety Plans
  • Ensuring continuous improvement of engineering discipline certifications and value propositions
  • Analyzing data and reports to draw sound engineering and regulatory conclusions
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals to provide innovative solutions for clients
  • Making responsible and ethical decisions regarding company resources and adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct
  • Taking on additional responsibilities as needed by the business
Qualifications

Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with valid California PE registration
  • 7-10 years of experience in civil engineering design
  • Experience in hydrology, hydraulics, earthworks construction, and permitting documentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a positive attitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with clients and the public
  • Proficient in technical computations and engineering principles
  • Experience guiding junior team members while adhering to quality assurance standards
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to foster cooperation among diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety policies
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs
  • Willingness to travel as required by project demands
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER)
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training

Compensation
Expected Salary Range: $104,500 - $177,700
