Carolina CAT is a leading provider of heavy equipment solutions, and we are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician to join our team.

About the Role

This is a dynamic opportunity for a skilled technician to work on various types of heavy equipment, including engines, generators, and other complex machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing customer equipment in a shop or field environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promptly review work schedules, check equipment, and prepare for operations at the start of each shift.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, using problem-solving techniques and repair options to address technical issues.
  • Determine the technical or physical status of equipment using onboard computers, service documents, and product improvement programs.
  • Verify findings by comparing readings of gauges and procedures to manufacturer specifications.
  • Develop plans to correct problems, consulting with colleagues or supervisors as needed.
  • Order or obtain parts from stock or send them to special service shops to make necessary tooling or alterations.
  • Install, replace, rebuild, or repair parts and equipment in a timely manner and according to specifications.
  • Test parts and equipment after completion, performing quality checks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain company vehicles and perform general housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with safety and contamination control guidelines.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must have:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Six or more years of experience in heavy equipment, engine, or electric power generation system repair.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar equipment and engines, including diagnostic tools and electrical systems.
Working Conditions

The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds regularly. Employees may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, or airborne particles, and varying temperatures.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
