Position Overview:


Are you enthusiastic about reshaping the landscape of observability and automation on a grand scale? We are in search of a proactive Automation Engineer to join our Enterprise Observability team, concentrating on the creation and deployment of automation solutions that elevate our observability and operational effectiveness.

This role presents a unique opportunity to establish and implement monitoring as code from the ground up, enhancing efficiency and reliability across our extensive infrastructure.

Envision developing solutions that automate incoming requests, facilitating one-click observability for both new and existing applications, while designing tailored solutions.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Design, develop, and sustain automation solutions to bolster observability and IT operations, with an emphasis on enhancing system monitoring, alerting, and reporting capabilities.

2. Manage source code and version control utilizing GitHub, adhering to best practices in version control, code sharing, branching, and collaboration.

3. Create automation scripts and tools using Ansible for configuration management, PowerShell for task automation, Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) implementations, and Jenkins for continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

4. Employ Python scripting to amplify automation efforts, contributing to more advanced data analysis and operational workflows.

5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to pinpoint automation opportunities that can streamline processes, minimize manual interventions, and enhance system reliability and performance.

6. Participate in the entire lifecycle of automation project development, from requirements gathering and design to deployment and maintenance.

7. Document automation processes and solutions, providing clear guidelines and support for IT operations and development teams.

8. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation scripts and systems, offering expert guidance and solutions to improve performance.

9. Stay informed on the latest automation technologies and practices, consistently seeking ways to enhance our operations and contribute to innovation within the team.


Required Skills and Qualifications:


- A minimum of 5 years of experience in developing enterprise-level automation solutions for observability and IT operations.

- Strong proficiency (4+ years) in source code management using GitHub, including branching, merging, and pull requests.

- Extensive expertise (4+ years) with Ansible, PowerShell, Terraform, and Jenkins for developing operational automation solutions.

- Proficiency in Python (3+ years) or PowerShell for scripting and automation tasks is highly desirable.

- Experience (4+ years) with modern observability tools (e.g., App Dynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and related practices.

- Solid understanding (5+ years) of IT operations, system administration, and observability principles.

- Experience (4+ years) in developing synthetic transaction monitors to validate system performance and functionality.


Preferred Skills and Qualifications:


- Experience (4+ years) with CI/CD practices and tools, and the ability to integrate automation solutions into CI/CD pipelines.

- Ability to deconstruct complex issues and develop innovative, comprehensive solutions.

- Strong analytical skills, with a focus on delivering actionable insights and improvements.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams.


Education:


A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).
