Position Title: Lead Laboratory Engineer

Job Overview:
Danfoss LLC, a pioneering technology firm, is seeking a Lead Laboratory Engineer to join our Research and Development team. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a technically demanding atmosphere and are eager to contribute to innovative projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and oversee experimental testing programs to evaluate new technologies.
  • Review and authorize testing requests from engineering teams.
  • Conduct performance and reliability assessments of compressor systems.
  • Analyze testing data to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Update and enhance existing laboratory procedures while creating new protocols as necessary.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of testing equipment.
  • Enhance lab equipment for improved efficiency and reliability.
  • Develop new testing apparatus in alignment with product development objectives.
  • Lead projects from initial planning through to final acceptance testing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all project deliverables, including design and validation tests.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Research and implement best practices and emerging technologies relevant to laboratory operations.

Additional Duties:
  • Evaluate supplier testing equipment specifications to ensure they meet current and future needs.
  • Offer technical support for long-term engineering plans related to chiller plants and R&D labs.
  • Collaborate with technical teams on system evaluations that support R&D testing initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed technical design reports and performance evaluations.
  • Develop system layouts and schematics for infrastructure upgrades.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized workplace, adhering to safety and quality policies.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of testing equipment, methodologies, and engineering practices.
  • Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
  • Experience with HVAC and refrigeration systems, particularly compressors.
  • Familiarity with materials, electrical circuits, sensors, and programming.
  • Excellent communication skills in a multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Desire to learn new technologies and skills.
  • Strong hands-on technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Background in turbomachinery.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Project.
  • Familiarity with data processing tools such as Excel and Access.
  • Knowledge of LabView or PLC programming.
