Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team in Central California.

The Estimator will be responsible for developing and overseeing commercial project estimates essential for sales, pre-construction, and bidding initiatives. This role involves providing detailed estimates, budget management, and analysis for various projects throughout their lifecycle, including business development, pre-construction, and construction phases. The candidate should possess comprehensive knowledge of all project scopes, systems, and assemblies.

Estimates may range from design-build projects to guaranteed maximum price estimates and stipulated sum bids. A thorough ability to perform complete quantity take-offs is necessary to ensure precise estimates across all disciplines in commercial and public works projects, including civil and site work, structural, concrete, finishes, mechanical, and electrical aspects. A solid understanding of the relationship between labor costs, materials, equipment, and productivity is crucial for accurate unit cost calculations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire bidding process.
  • Develop estimates grounded in a practical understanding of design, constructability, logistics, sequencing, and project methodologies.
  • Act as a primary collaborator with new and existing subcontractor relationships for estimating, bidding, and project awards.
  • Prepare estimate presentations, special studies, budget control reports, and estimating documents for projects and client meetings.
  • Maintain awareness of market labor and commodity conditions and their effects on construction costs.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs, variance analysis, and maintain quantity controls.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite.
