Job Title: Prevention Specialist

Hope For Youth is seeking a skilled Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a Prevention Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing education, support, and tools to children, adults, families, and community stakeholders to prevent substance and alcohol use.

Job Summary:

The Prevention Specialist will be responsible for presenting evidence-based curricula, such as "Too Good for Drugs," in elementary school classrooms and leading community awareness events in the Town of Babylon. This is a part-time position, 17.50 hours a week, with flexible scheduling, including some weekends.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Present evidence-based curricula to elementary school students
  • Lead community awareness events to raise awareness about substance and alcohol use
  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent substance and alcohol use in the community
  • Conduct surveys to identify substance and alcohol use issues in the community
  • Develop and coordinate community events to promote substance and alcohol use prevention
  • Attend trainings and professional development opportunities
  • Attend meetings as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • At least one year of experience working with children and adolescents
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, escort children and youth, and restrain a child or youth during a crisis
