Deputy Director of Science and Technology

Join the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Energy Initiative as a Deputy Director of Science and Technology, a key role in advancing research and policy solutions to combat climate change and expand energy access.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify opportunities for high-impact research and develop solutions to bring them to global scale.
  • Play a key role in ongoing activities, including connecting members to MIT principal investigators and promoting work to internal and external communities.
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision, matching potential research sponsors with MIT capabilities and fostering relationships with industrial, public, and non-profit partners.
  • Assist in directing staff to develop and implement programs, projects, and events.
  • Collaborate with the director to support MITEI's priorities and continued success.
Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Ten years of experience in a leadership position in an organization supporting research relevant to changing the global energy system.
  • Broad knowledge of energy- and climate-related matters.
  • Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivation and excellent writing, presentation, communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
