Your Role at SAM

The Land Survey Crew Leader is responsible for supervising the daily operations of a land surveying team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing the most effective strategies for data collection during field surveys, which may encompass primary control, construction layout, and as-built surveys.
  • Documenting work performed and creating sketches with precision.
  • Maintaining daily communication with the Project Surveyor and technicians regarding project timelines and progress.
  • Professionally engaging with client representatives and landowners.
  • Interpreting construction drawings and specifications while understanding all aspects of the survey project requirements and tolerances.
  • Preparing daily reports, time sheets, and necessary documentation.
  • Ensuring the upkeep of surveying vehicles and field equipment.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry, with prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs.
  • Experience with Trimble equipment is advantageous.
  • Strong technical and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities, including listening, writing, and verbal skills.
  • A proven work history, a strong work ethic, and a collaborative mindset.
  • The willingness to travel for extended periods.
  • The capability to work in various weather conditions.
  • The ability to traverse long distances across diverse terrains and carry loads up to 80 lbs.
  • A valid driver's license, a clean background check, and successful drug screening.
