Job Summary

Columbia University seeks a highly skilled and experienced Department Administrator to oversee the financial, clinical, and educational operations of the Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the department's finances, clinical practices, and educational programs, as well as ensuring compliance with University and external regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the department's financial affairs, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee the clinical operations of the Department, including the faculty practice plan and accounts payable and receivable.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with University and external regulations.
  • Manage the department's educational programs, including graduate programs and continuing education initiatives.
  • Supervise and manage departmental staff, including administrative and support staff.
  • Collaborate with Faculty Practice Organization to evaluate managed care opportunities and negotiate contracts.
  • Develop and implement departmental information technology plan and policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or similar degree.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive responsibility at a managerial level, preferably in an academic health center.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead staff in a changing environment.
  • Knowledge, experience, and ability to manage complex information and computer systems.
  • Understanding of managerial accounting and finance principles.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to enhance income from development and revenue sources.
