Job Summary

The University of Maryland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Project Management to join our team. This role will be responsible for leading and coordinating the project management program, working closely with the Associate Director and other leadership team members to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of project managers, project manager associates, and project coordinators to implement campus projects from inception through design and construction.
  • Develop and maintain a master project performance schedule and review all project reporting systems for accuracy and completeness.
  • Take necessary and immediate action for projects deemed to be behind schedule and over budget.
  • Coordinate work with customer departments, campus administration, designers, other project managers, government agencies, and other service and support agencies.
  • Manage project finances, make and review estimates, negotiate contract change orders with A/E firms and contractors, and develop and manage value-engineering efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible related experience, including managing multiple renovation projects, large new construction projects, and managing A/E (design) consultant services and construction administration.
  • Five years of experience in a position of project leadership managing and coordinating activities of a project team and three years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing construction projects under a range of delivery methods, including GC, DB, and CMAR contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an educational setting.
  • Professional registration and/or advanced degree desired; LEED accreditation and LEED project experience desired.
Additional Information

The hiring range for this position is $124,120-$150,000. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
