Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our team at Peoria Christian School. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the building Principal and teachers, ensuring the smooth operation of the elementary office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the building Principal and teachers
  • Answer incoming phone calls and take messages
  • Secure substitutes on a daily basis and maintain substitute time sheets
  • Maintain a current substitute list and ensure they have all necessary information
  • Call students to leave when signed out and adjust attendance records as needed
  • Supervise students waiting to leave or sitting at the office for recess or discipline
  • Sort and distribute daily mail
  • Keep staff and volunteer coordinators informed of any changes in schedules
  • Advise teachers about recess weather
  • Log immunization, physical forms, and dental forms in compliance with ISBE requirements
  • Collect birth certificates for each student
  • Maintain class schedules for teachers and revise class lists as necessary
  • Copy and distribute forms as needed
  • Plan and provide details for projects as directed by the Principal
  • Complete laminating items for teachers and staff
  • Attend and participate in all meetings as outlined in the contract or assigned by the Principal
  • Organize on-line lunch orders and lunch tickets
  • Maintain supply inventory for the elementary office and teachers
  • Welcome and assist everyone entering the office in a Christ-like manner
  • Provide first aid, CPR, and AED as needed
  • Maintain emergency contact book and various emergency files
  • Order office supplies based on the Principal's approval
  • Maintain records, including electronically and hard copy
  • Create forms as necessary
  • Be knowledgeable regarding all aspects of the elementary department
  • Recognize the role of parents as being primarily responsible for their children's education
  • Know and comply with emergency and crisis procedures
  • Attend workshops to maintain professional and technical knowledge
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Keep proper discipline in the hallways and on school premises
  • Enforce the parent/student handbook
  • Contribute to the spiritual growth of students by example and personal devotions
  • Actively assist and encourage students to grow in their faith
  • Develop rapport with students, parents, and staff
  • Supervise and sponsor extra-curricular activities as assigned or needed
  • Support the broader program of the school by attending extra-curricular activities
  • Recognize the need for and contribute to good public relations inside and outside the school family
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Attend and participate in scheduled devotionals, staff training, committees, and faculty meetings
  • Cooperate with the Board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives
