Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Student Housing Accounts Counselor to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our Student Housing department, you will provide exceptional support to students and parents regarding housing financial accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving any issues that may arise.

Responsibilities
  • Provide information, consultation, and support services to students and parents on housing financial accounts.
  • Conduct routine reviews of residential student account information to ensure accuracy and refer any issues to the lead Student Housing Accounts Counselor for further evaluation.
  • Support the development of communications and web content to inform and educate clients about their financial responsibilities and obligations, minimizing account delinquencies.
  • Assist the lead Student Housing Accounts Counselor in preparing documentation for legal actions and serve as the point of contact for outside legal representation and the Sheriff's Department/Marshalls Office in the service of documents and evictions on all Housing-related cases.
  • May be required to appear in court, along with appropriate Housing management, as the University of California, Irvine's representative in legal actions, including subpoenas.
  • Assist in maintaining records on students eligible for housing assistance from the Orange County Housing Authority and conduct follow-up as directed to ensure completion of required paperwork for compliance with program regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining records on students seeking approval for Emotional Support Animals in Housing and refer students seeking financial assistance to campus departments that support local, state, and federal programs.
  • Apply and release financial, academic, and meal plan holds on student Housing accounts as directed.
  • Provide verification of residency information regarding current or former on-campus residents to off-campus apartment leasing offices and representatives of federal, state, and county agencies.
  • Participate in planning and development for the Housing Management System and an updated financial processing model to replace the legacy system.
  • Provide back-up support to front-line customer service functions in Housing Admin Services.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • BA/BS or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-2 years in student support services in a related capacity.
