Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Technician III to join our team at Tulane University Staff. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will assist DCM veterinarians in diagnostic, surgical, and preventative procedures and treatments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe animals in assigned areas and report abnormalities, sickness, or injury.
  • Assist with preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care and monitor the condition of assigned animals.
  • Participate in after-hours call and be available to work weekends, after hours, and holidays as required.
  • Travel between campuses may be necessary.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and four years of experience as an Animal Care Technician.
  • Graduation from a two-year veterinary technician program and two years of veterinary technician experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in biological sciences (i.e. animal science, anthropology, biology, zoology) and four years veterinary technician experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as an AALAS Laboratory Technician (LAT).
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds and push items weighing up to 200 pounds; able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Solid analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed.
Special Requirements

Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required.
