Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

Abacus Technology Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical communications design support for the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold AFB. This is a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support systems engineering efforts for communications/IT and related specialties, including instrumentation, data, and controls, control systems, network engineering, inside/outside plant, and more.
  • Provide engineering reviews and suggest solutions for the analysis, design, integration, installation, testing, and life-cycle support of new and upgraded systems associated with delivery of infrastructure capabilities.
  • Perform requirements analyses and conceptual designs, surveying and evaluating existing infrastructures, communications, and environmental aspects of the site.
  • Develop implementation plans reflecting strategy, schedule, and recommendations for site architecture, topology, and configuration, considering on-site failover and continuity of operations.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design, develop, install, document, and test custom solutions and their infrastructures.
  • Provide network management and technical support in communications engineering, with an emphasis on distribution systems for complex and critical communications projects.
  • Implement, test, integrate, and support requirements for AF IT infrastructure to meet mission requirements and regulatory constraints, within a required time frame designated by the Government.
  • Support future efforts to transition the base from the existing LAN/MAN to newer technologies, investigating and analyzing innovative and emerging technologies to improve IT system performance and support.
  • Evaluate the existing and planned information technology environment, assess areas for improvement, make recommendations, and implement directed changes.
  • Support IT strategic planning in conjunction with the government, working with the senior engineer and management team.
Qualifications:

3+ years experience in systems engineering and integration, Bachelor's degree in a related field, and certifications in Security+ CE and Microsoft. Thorough understanding of application software, operating systems, networks, storage platforms, and system architecture. Experience working on each stage of the system development life cycle, ITIL, and IT best practices. Familiar with process modeling and workflow diagrams, able to elicit and interpret requirements, and communicate with management, technical staff, and end users in a clear and professional manner.
