Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Assembly Team Lead to join our team at Powell Industries. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of employees, ensuring the efficient and effective production of high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train and develop employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Communicate and delegate daily priorities to team members, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Release jobs to QA/QC, ensuring that all products meet our quality and safety standards.
  • Write purchase requisitions and order parts as needed, ensuring that we have the necessary materials to complete projects.
  • Lead and mentor 6S and continuous improvement projects, including Kaizen events, to drive process improvements and increase efficiency.
  • Lead quality initiatives, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Communicate with department heads and other stakeholders to resolve issues and drive timely completion of projects.
  • Review bill of materials and drawings for issues, ensuring that all products are manufactured to the correct specifications.
  • Assist in interviews and new hire selection, ensuring that we hire the best candidates for our team.
  • Identify training needs for the group and help develop appropriate training plans.
  • Assist in tracking job efficiency and productivity, ensuring that our team is working effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist in employee evaluation process, ensuring that employees are held accountable for their performance.
  • Communicate passdown information, ensuring that all team members are aware of changes and updates.
  • Lead safety and quality meetings, ensuring that our team is aware of and adheres to all safety and quality protocols.
Requirements
  • Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma is preferred.
  • 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of system software (i.e. Oracle, MES, True View) to look up parts and drawings.
  • Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of Engineering Change orders.
  • Read and understand spec sheets and follow proper use of hardware by spec requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of single and three-line drawings, including symbols.
  • Ability to identify part discrepancies and properly write HFDs for corrections.
  • Knowledge of mechanical drawings and designs.
  • Ability to complete complex engineering changes.
  • Effectively demonstrates on-time delivery and the ability to stay focused on goals and responsibilities.
  • Self-starter with ability to take on multiple tasks with a drive to succeed.
  • Challenges the status quo; looks for better or more efficient ways to get results.
  • Ability to adapt to new ideas, technology, processes or product changes.
