We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Assembly Supervisor to join our team at Powell Industries. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of assembly technicians to ensure the efficient and effective production of our products.
Key Responsibilities- Train and develop assembly technicians to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Communicate and delegate daily priorities to the assembly team to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Release jobs to the quality control team to ensure that products meet our high standards.
- Write purchase requisitions and order parts from suppliers to ensure that we have the necessary materials to complete production.
- Lead and mentor 6S and continuous improvement projects, including Kaizen events, to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Lead quality initiatives to ensure that our products meet our quality standards.
- Communicate with other departments to resolve issues and drive timely completion of jobs.
- Review bill of materials and drawings to ensure that they are accurate and up-to-date.
- Assist in the selection and training of new employees.
- Identify training needs for the assembly team and develop training plans to address those needs.
- Assist in tracking job efficiency and productivity.
- Assist in the employee evaluation process.
- Communicate passdown information to ensure that the assembly team has the necessary information to complete their tasks.
- Lead safety and quality meetings to ensure that our team is aware of and adheres to our safety and quality policies.
- Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma is preferred.
- 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of system software, such as Oracle, MES, and True View, to look up parts and drawings.
- Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering change orders.
- Ability to read and understand spec sheets and follow proper use of hardware by spec requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of single and three-line drawings, including symbols.
- Ability to identify part discrepancies and properly write HFDs for corrections.
- Knowledge of mechanical drawings and designs.
- Ability to complete complex engineering changes.
- Effectively demonstrates on-time delivery and the ability to stay focused on goals and responsibilities.
- Self-starter with ability to take on multiple tasks with a drive to succeed.
- Challenges the status quo; looks for better or more efficient ways to get results.
- Ability to adapt to new ideas, technology, processes or product changes.
- Believes and displays through actions that our customers represent our current success and remain vital to our future growth.

This is a safety-sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and respirators when required. You must be able to work from all types of ladders and be able to lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques.
Physical Requirements- Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs or step ladders.
- Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction.
- Continuous standing and walking.
- Able to use upper extremities frequently, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.
- Must be able to meet physical lifting demand up to 50lbs.
- Frequent use of hand tools and power tools.
