Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Lead

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate employee training and support the development of onboarding programs for new hires.
  • Effectively communicate and assign daily tasks to team members.
  • Oversee job releases to Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and manage parts orders through GEXPRO.
  • Champion 6S methodologies and lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events.
  • Drive quality improvement efforts within the team.
  • Collaborate with various departments to address challenges and ensure timely job completion.
  • Examine bills of materials and technical drawings for discrepancies.
  • Participate in the interview process and assist in selecting new team members.
  • Identify and assess training requirements for the team, developing suitable training plans.
  • Monitor job efficiency and productivity metrics.
  • Support the employee evaluation process.
  • Relay important information during team passdowns.
  • Lead safety and quality meetings to promote best practices.
  • Uphold Powell's policies and safety protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with system software (e.g., Oracle, MES, True View) for accessing parts and drawings.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs using proper techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of Engineering Change Orders.
  • Ability to read and interpret specification sheets and adhere to hardware usage guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of single and three-line diagrams, including associated symbols.
  • Capability to identify part discrepancies and accurately document corrections.
  • Proficient in mechanical drawings and design principles.
  • Experience in executing complex engineering changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while maintaining focus on objectives.
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to challenge existing processes and seek improved methods for achieving results.
  • Adaptability to new concepts, technologies, processes, or product modifications.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction as a key driver of success.
  • Exhibit integrity and ethical decision-making in all actions.
  • Detail-oriented, thorough, and reliable in completing job responsibilities.

Working & Environmental Conditions

  • Working Conditions:
    • This is a safety-sensitive role in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment, with occasional outdoor tasks.
    • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including safety shoes, hard hats, and safety glasses.
    • Must be comfortable working from various types of ladders.
    • Work may involve heights, typically not exceeding 20 feet, using appropriate lifting and fall protection equipment.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to maintain balance and agility to prevent falls while walking, standing, or using ladders.
    • Capability to bend, stretch, and reach in various directions.
    • Continuous standing and walking are required.
    • Frequent use of both arms and hands for extended periods.
    • Must meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
    • Regular use of hand and power tools is necessary.
