Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler II to join our team at Powell Industries. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for building and assembling mechanical components for Switchgear and/or Breaker units according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and assemble mechanical components using master copy, spec sheet, front elevation, and WO files
  • Perform maintenance and proper use of tools
  • Perform in-process inspections and ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying potential risks to product quality
  • Assist in Root Cause Analysis on engineering changes and correct discrepancies
  • Collaborate with a small team of employees to complete specific tasks assigned by lead assembler and/or supervisor
  • Perform mechanical adjustments for switchgear
  • Promote a safety culture and attend all safety meetings
  • Ensure work areas remain clean and well-organized
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform conversions
  • Basic command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Basic knowledge of operating a desktop computer
  • Safely use a variety of hand/power tools
  • Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic MES system knowledge, Oracle preferred
  • Prior experience in building or repairing mechanical components
Working Conditions

This is a safety-sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and work from various types of ladders.

Physical Requirements

You must be able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling, bend, and lift up to 50lbs. You will also be required to use upper extremities frequently and work with both arms above shoulders and at full length.
